Guess what? Yep, you got it. I’m working all weekend. Just think of the dollar, I keep telling myself. Oh, and I do have tomorrow evening off, so the boy and I can actually eat together, at the same time, in the same room. Small things. In other news, we paid off our Glastonbury balances yesterday, which is kind of exciting. I so need a holiday.

sometimes you break your heart in the right way…
I wasn’t sure what she meant; but when she paused,
expecting a reply,
I nodded as if I did understand.
’til i hitched a ride on a river boat queen
According to my search box, I have never mentioned Melvin Sokolsky on this blog before. I’m not really sure why that is, since he’s one of my favourites. But don’t worry, I’m not going to bombard you with any over-intellectualised reasons why; I’m just going to do my usual and show you why. I’d happily have any of these gracing my walls. One day, hopefully, I will.

it’s nice to get out in the morning
Overheard the most amusing conversation in the Topshop changing rooms this afternoon. (Yes, I was in the Topshop changing rooms, depressing myself by trying to squeeze into impossibly small and impossibly short shorts). Anyway, it went a little something like this:
Girl 1: Ohh god, I’ve put weight on.
Girl 2: No, you haven’t.
Girl 1: I have.
Girl 2: You haven’t, I can see you with my eyes, and you haven’t.
Girl 1: Oh god, I think I need the 12. Ohhhh.
Girl 2: Just go and get a 12 then. No-one will know!
Girl 1: I can’t go and get the 12!
Girl 2: Why not? I’ll go and get it for you.
Girl 1: No, no. I’ll just get the 10 and go on a diet.
Ha! The ‘I can see you with my eyes’ bit was my favourite. All the while I was having the exact same battle in my own head. And of course this conversation can be heard verbatim in a changing room near you. Go and listen, if only for entertainment value.
we will laugh and talk about the village green
Basically, I wish this year would slow down. Before we know it I’ll be in Somerset (did I just mention the unmentionable?). I’ve got a day off today and I’m trying to be productive so musn’t stay long. But what a lovely day – nice and toasty. Have good ones, won’t you.
happy ever after in the marketplace
Sorry for the abundance of pictures these days. I will speak soon, promise. But for now you’ll have to make do with Patti Boyd and Vogue. Not bad, eh?
out in the country, far from all the soot and noise of the city…
it’s been a long time since i last set eyes
on the church with the steeple
down by the village green.
’twas there i met a girl called daisy
and kissed her by the old oak tree.
although i loved my daisy,
i saw fame and so i left the village green.
i miss the village green
and all the simple people…
honey, oh sugar-sugar, you are my candy girl
If in doubt, I always find myself returning to Francoise. And in doubt I am. I’m back to work and yes, I know, I’m sinking off the radar. This is what happens, you see. The sunshine never holds as much promise when you have to work. Also, my speakers aren’t working properly (they’re an essential part of my equilibrium) . And I was considering buying the Topshop Aruba’s in black, but now they’re out of stock. And it’s Sunday and I’ve got to work soon. And oh, how I wish it was this time last week.

after you’ve had it (yeah, yeah) you’re in an awful fix
Holidays = fry-ups, daffodils, card-games, coffees, lazy lunches, a-film-a-day, milkshakes, trying to be creative, cooking, snacking, popcorn, cosycosycosy sleeps and the joy of waking to blue skies. (This time, I’m wearing Rokit vintage t-shirt, vintage leather jacket from eBay, Urban Outfitters satchel and necklaces, American Apparel corduroy circle skirt, and ASOS loafers. Cor, what a menagerie.)
