if you ever see a face like hers

I left the house for the first time in four days earlier. I was excited to begin with but quickly realised I’m still not one hundred per cent and that the general public are generally vile. Like the man picking and sucking his tooth behind me in a queue (apparently he didn’t notice the fact that I kept turning round to glare at him). Honestly though, are people for real? After getting the few bits I needed, I hurried straight home to snuggle back up. I may or may not have watched another episode of The Model Agency which I discovered on 4od last night. I wish I hadn’t found it. I wish there weren’t seven episodes waiting for me. I’m going to have to ration myself. It is so addictive. There’s one girl featured in the documentary who reminded me instantly of Penelope Tree. Which can only be a good thing.

at first flash of eden, we race down to the sea.

Ok, I know I’m way slow off the mark here, but I remember reading recently that COS have re-opened their online store. This juicy piece of info just came back to me so I made my way there with haste. The only access I’ve ever had to COS is the small concession in Selfridges (and they never have what I want), so this online shop is tantamount to paradise-at-my-fingertips right now! Only thing is: what to choose? Here’s the short(dream)list. (I’m kidding myself that I’ve actually got money to spend.) (That’s why I’ve included socks.) (Affordable but pretty.) No but really, I want everything. They must’ve seen me coming.

things just fall into place, it gets a bit clearer in london town

I’m here! Major apologies for missing fads of the week on Sunday. Excuses are: I was down south and spent most of the day on the sofa. Nothing to do with the fact that I spent Saturday night hopping around London, of course. Catching up with lots of friends and generally indulging in a little debauchery. So, having missed the fads, I thought it would only be appropriate to return with a themed blog post of sorts. Here you have it – my first look at Vogue November 2011. You can see other posts of this sort here and here.

her love for me is wider than the ocean

Not entirely sure what’s happened to me this week, besides not going to the gym, getting more job rejections, wishing it would get colder more quickly, worrying about Troy Davis and listening to Ernie K-Doe on repeat. Other than that I’ve bought a lovely new jumper! Hence wishing the temperature would take a tumble. But more on that [beautiful navy fisherman’s knit] another day.

i will collect them all for you in butterfly jars

I have a new idea for the blog. I know, it’s been a long time coming. It’s going to be weekly Sunday-ditty. I could’ve started it yesterday, but I felt the timing of such whimsy would be inappropriate. This Sunday it is, then. Bet you can’t wait!

So, other than coming up with fancy new blog ideas (don’t worry, there won’t be anything nearly as frightening as a change of scenery or anything!) I have been mostly reading. After my short, sharp fling with One Day, I ordered a few more books online (four, actually) and I’ve quickly demolished them all. That’s the problem with me – I’m an absolutist, especially when it comes to reading. I become addicted/infatuated/can’t-stop-til-I’ve-finished so easily. Sometimes, I wish I could just read a chapter or two a night, savour it like normal people do. But no; whoever said ‘it’s a real page-turner’, was surely thinking of me. But anyway, all this reading has inspired me, which can only be a good thing.

In other, final news, my Mum is like way ahead of the times. For my birthday last year she ordered me a little alphabet purse online. I use it to carry around a few essentials in my bag (I don’t like being bulked down with a full on make-up case). And as I walked past Urban Outfitters this morning, I spied the exact same ones through the window. Yeah, my Mum is so Urbz-Outz like that. Or rather, so ONE-YEAR-AHEAD like that. And also, remember the debate I once had about the letters American Apparel chose (or rather, deigned not to choose) for their alphabet t-shirts? Yep. Here too. Sorry, Frankie, this time F got the cut.

row your boat through the oceans deep and wide

Whenever I get my hands on a new magazine, I have a very particular routine. On my first round, I simply take in the aesthetics of each page and might read a header or two; second round, I read anything that particularly captures my attention, but only skim-read as I take the pages in again; third round, I read it cover to cover. So, having divulged my obsessive routine (one of many, I assure you), I thought I’d take you on a little tour. This time, it’s Vogue September 2011: Round One. These are the beautiful aesthetics which stood out to me on first sight in my first round (and, incidentally, are the reason I love Vogue).
