hello darkness, my old friend

…i’ve come to talk with you again,
because a vision softly creeping,
left its seeds while i was sleeping;
and the vision that was planted in my brain
still remains, with the sound of silence.

in restless dreams i walked alone,
narrow streets of cobblestone.
‘neath the halo of a streetlamp,
i turned my collar to the cold a damp,
and my eyes were stabbed by the flash of a neon light
that split the night
and touched the sound of silence.

at first flash of eden, we race down to the sea.

Ok, I know I’m way slow off the mark here, but I remember reading recently that COS have re-opened their online store. This juicy piece of info just came back to me so I made my way there with haste. The only access I’ve ever had to COS is the small concession in Selfridges (and they never have what I want), so this online shop is tantamount to paradise-at-my-fingertips right now! Only thing is: what to choose? Here’s the short(dream)list. (I’m kidding myself that I’ve actually got money to spend.) (That’s why I’ve included socks.) (Affordable but pretty.) No but really, I want everything. They must’ve seen me coming.

things just fall into place, it gets a bit clearer in london town

I’m here! Major apologies for missing fads of the week on Sunday. Excuses are: I was down south and spent most of the day on the sofa. Nothing to do with the fact that I spent Saturday night hopping around London, of course. Catching up with lots of friends and generally indulging in a little debauchery. So, having missed the fads, I thought it would only be appropriate to return with a themed blog post of sorts. Here you have it – my first look at Vogue November 2011. You can see other posts of this sort here and here.

only i don’t know how they got out, dear

Just a quick one. I’m off down south. Not looking forward to traipsing through the driving rain to the station. But other than that I’m excited. I’ve been packing for-what-feels-like-ever. I’m only going for three days, like. Anyway, I’m finally ready and have sat down to blog. The boy has just taken a quick snap of me for that very purpose. As ever, my curtain of hair is blocking my face (get used to it). But more important than my face are the clothes. Shorts and jumper – American Apparel, Vintage Breton, Necklace – Topshop, Desert Boots – Clarks.

fads of the week

I’m super pressed for time today. I’m frantically trying to get an application form filled in before going down south on Thursday. But I wouldn’t have forgiven myself if I hadn’t got my fads up. They will be slightly more scantily-clad today and largely music based. And I think I will cheat with a little help from youtube. Here you are: my latest and greatest. See you next week.

The Springtime Anchorage.
Formerly known as The Great Northwestern Hoboes. I love The Hoboes, which means I’m way excited for this new venture. Check out this for a cover:

Nina Simone.
Does this need any explanation? Honestly, I’m not just trying to write as little as possible, but I couldn’t do her justice in words. I don’t want to dictate, so please just see this as a nudge to go and listen to a track of your choice.

Booze.
I mean, after all, we do live in Booze Britannia. It would be rude not to.

Retro Olympic Logos.
My favourite is Montreal 1976. I want it on my walls. It’s in another realm entirely to the monstrosity that is the 2012 logo.

THIS MOMENT from High Fidelity.
I will never not love this. I will never forget my surprise the first time I saw it. Oh, plus the film is great (even if it is American). Go watch.
